It's been a while since I've posted, but I finally found a good story that gave me the energy to post. I've been very busy with various projects and other things so writing has been at the bottom of the list.
Debra Lafave. She is an extremely good looking teacher who fucked a 14 year old in Ocala, Florida. (30 minutes from me.) Now, there's been a lot of discussion about how severe her crime is. Some people expect her to get decades in prison. Others would like a light sentence. This is the debate, and I happen to be on the progressive side.
You see, this isn't a 40 year old scum bag predator who wants to take advantage of a little girl. This isn't even a 35 year old teacher who had sex with a 14 year old girl. This is a female who impulsively had consensual sex with a 14 year old male. There is one point that no one in the media has stated, and is the basic fact of this argument.
There is no victim. Really, there isn't one. This kid isn't a victim. He's a fucking hero to his classmates and he has a self esteem boost all the way to the sky. If he's been victimized in any such way, it would be by making such a huge issue out of this case and the media slamming the shit out of it. Other than that, he isn't a victim. He's suffered no trauma from the illegal act itself. Debra Lafave didn't victimize him.
This is why there is a double standard. The double standard exists because boys and girls are wired very differently, as we all know. Guys like sex, girls like love. Because of this wired in primal instinct, there absolutely will be a double standard in a case like this. You can't say double standards are wrong, because you can't paint everything in life the same color. There are no absolutes and there are always exceptions to every rule.
She received three years house arrest and 7 years probation. This would have been an excellent sentence, however I think that mandatory psychotherapy is absolutely needed with her case. This woman is classic bipolar, and she's a risk to do something like this again without being properly treated. In the end, that was precisely why she did this.
He also said Lafave told him her marriage was in trouble and that she was aroused by the fact that having sex with him was not allowed.
Like I said, classic bipolar. Trust me, I know. She isn't a predator, and she certainly isn't some horrible woman. She can't be thrown in with the same class of sex offenders. She didn't steal any innocence, and she didn't victimize this kid. She made his fucking dreams come true. There is a double standard in cases like this, and appropriate sentences need to be handed out when they arrive, and I certainly applaud the Judge who handed down this very appropriate sentence.
Her husband is just about the biggest fucking joke I've seen. He's been on TV so much, it's just ridiculous at this point.
Lafave's ex-husband, Owen Lafave, said Wednesday that she was being treated for mental problems when she committed the crime, but it was a double standard that she avoided prison. "She is a sexual offender and if it were a male she would have definitely gotten jail time," he said in a television interview Wednesday.
This bitter motherfucker has sand in his vagina. I mean think about it, imagine if your wife cheated on you with a fucking 14 year old. Can you imagine the embarrassment? This guy was humiliated, and he handles it by going on TV and acting like a fucking retarded child. She isn't a sexual offender. By calling her a sexual offender, you take away the seriousness and the severity of the real sex offenders. She was bipolar, impulsive, and self destructive.
Like I said, there absolutely is a double standard in a case like this. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just the way it is. There was no victim and no real crime committed. It was a waste of time, and the police, media, and judicial attention given to this kid fucked him up a lot more than the actual sex act did. The sex act did no real harm, and probably did a whole lot of good. The attention scarred him, and the act itself gave him huge amounts of confidence. The kid is fine, and with proper treatment, the woman will be fine. No crime, no sentence. Although, the media, police, and prosecutors are the ones who committed the real crime here. If anyone fucked him up, it's them.
