A New Bible Story
Apparently, one sheep, apparently the leader, decided it was a good idea to walk off the cliff. And then, every other sheep followed and now a farmer in Turkey is probably very, very poor. Humans make the same mistakes though. One brave, yet stupid person will start walking, and the followers will of course follow, and they will be lead to their doom. Why does this happen though? I think it's because people are scared to death of the responsibility of leading.
If just one of these sheep would have been smart enough to change it's course, the others would have follow and they wouldn't have fallen to their doom. This is a great metaphor for religion. The religious doctrine of the Church commands everyone to follow, and not everyone, but a large number of them do. And they will eventually be lead over the edge of the cliff. I know of many religious people who lead, and who do not follow. I know many who listen to, but don't obey every absurd command. I am not speaking of you. I'm speaking of the majority.
The majority just follows the leader. No abortions. No drugs. No gay marriage. No masturbation. No pre-marital sex. No being jealous of another's property. Beat your children. No sex unless it's for the purpose of reproduction. This is what the leader commands, and the majority follows and unfortunately, that majority is leading America right now. I have no choice but to follow. They're driving the car, and I'm just a passenger. I really hope that the Conservatives who are leading this country do not lead us over the edge of a cliff. And I really hope that Church does not lead the majority over the edge of a cliff.
This is a story that should have been in the Bible. This is a real lesson right here. Jesus told some good stories, but this one is from modern times, yet it still could have happened back then because sheep intelligence isn't very evolved.

What the fuck are you babbling about? Sheep are sheep. They're animals. The sheep analogy is used often for a reason. And you are right, and thanks for making my point for me, which I'm sure you didn't mean to do. The same happens with humans when they don't look for themselves and seek out evidence and listen with open minds. When they do not, they follow the others of their own kind right down a cliff. The lesson? Don't follow the leader. Be your own leader and use your own mind. Take the chance.

When someone shows me some tangible evidence any of those freaks existed other than some freaky picture of Bernadette Peters cooked into a grilled cheese sandwich, I'll maybe rethink my stand. Today, I invite you to look for yourself, to seek out evidence, and to listen with open mind.
All humans are religious human beings. This is a part of our humanity. We all have this inclination towards the infinite.
This is why you see different religions on earth, because every one expresses his/her religious feelings in different way.
God created in us this religious aspect (we pray, desire for happiness, fulfillment, freedom, love)so that we may find Him.
If we deny our religious aspect, we deny a part of our humanity.
It is not wrong to take refuge in God when you are weak. It is prideful not to cry out to our Creator when we feel bad.

I know you do not like rules and laws. You hate restrictions and Dos & don'ts. The Church is not about rules and laws. The Church teaching is about love.
If we love, we do not kill someone.
If we love, you do not hurt God, ourselves, or others.
I have a question for you:
Can you find freedom within the Church? If yes, how?
If no, explain.

The bible is just a story that some man wrote to make his ego larger. This story with the sheep should be in it. Hell... everyone has their own fair share of stories that should probably be in the bible.
I've only read the first paragraph of the bible before my opinion of it was that its bull. If you believe in God... good for you. But most importantly believe in yourself... theres no man up there that has your life written out.
Your right matt... anyone of those sheep could have just said "hey this is a pretty shitty idea... i dont want to go this way" it was their choice. and unfortunatly... if there is a person out there that says he heard from God and he said to bring as many of his "children" to him than there are people who will willingly kill themselves to see him.
i feel bad for the sheep that died... just animals or not.. they were lead to believe that their "leader" was someone they could trust. and look where it got them.

Church is a scam in and of itself. Real Christians don't goto church, because they realize the bullshit that it is. How is standing up and singing a tribute to your "creator"? It isn't. It's a scam. I hope you can comprehend this and stop wasting your time and money. Make your bedroom your church. You don't need to go to a special building to pray to your "creator".

Very intelligent post. The Bible is definitely a story, but I think it's more complicated than simply man wanting a larger ego. I have my own complex theory, but I won't get into that now. And you're right, everyone does have a story that should be in the Bible. Some Church should make a "New School" Bible. I think it would be a good idea to modernize the faith. I think it's about time, guys. God needs to make a come back and update his policies.

I do not hate those who question my "Holy doctrine" as you described it. I think every religion and every person should question its holy doctrine, including your "holy doctine".
The Church doesn't want to control you. You do not live in Saudi Arabia. You do not live in China. You live in the Western world where you have the freedom to think and to worship or not.
The Church doesn't need your money. When you confess your sins to a priest, the Church does not take money. When you receive the Body of Christ in communion, you do not pay money. Spiritual growth in the Church is free, without any cost. But when you seek other sources of comfort(i.e. pornography, yoga, etc...) you need to pay money.
God is love. He watches you with love. The Church is a mother who is here to serve you.
Angels are not stalkers. Angels do not rape. Angels are messengers, companions, consolers.
I am a messenger, companion, consoler. That's who I am.

The Bible is a load of utter bull ... it makes no logical sense, it contradicts itself in many places and IT requires believing without proof and factual evidence. As to why the earth revolves around the sun ... it's a simple matter of mass ratios. F = GmM/(r*r) ; thus a larger M would exert a larger force, drawing the smaller m toward it. Although the forces FM and Fm are identical the matter of inertia and the rest of it garuntees that the smaller m has a larger motion. ... Toms Grandmother is an ignorant DORK!
