Airplane Hysteria

This airplane hysteria is getting completely out of hand. In fact, I find it insanely ridiculous and the people who fly on planes in this country are out of their fucking minds.

I see stories like this all the time, and these people are getting completely out of hand. I have my own solution for airline safety that will make it safer and give our government 100% responsibility for airline safety. If they can take the amount of money they do out of our paychecks then I think the can handle being in charge of securing America's airplanes.

For one thing, I believe it to be a matter of National Security for the federal government to be in charge of airline security. When crazy fucking Islamic facists are hijacking airplanes and flying them into buildings, attempting to blow them up with shoes and liquid bombs, I think it becomes pretty essential that an entity that isn't publicly traded be in charge. Although some would argue that the government is publicly traded, the fact remains that someone needs to be on that plane in uniform. Not just someone, a lot of someone.

At least 4 Air Marshals need to be on board every flight going into or out of the United States. Does that sound complicated? Tough shit. Collecting taxes is complicated and they manage that. Non-uniformed Air Marshals who are highly trained and who can spot true terrorist behavior. We also need Subway Marshals. We probably need them somewhere else that we haven't even thought of it.

The fact of the matter is that this bullshit has gone way too far. It's time for the government to step up and take control, in a non-Katrina way. We need the people with the power in charge now. When a pregnant woman can't bring her bottle of raspberry tea, which helps is needed for her morning sickness, on board, then something is fucked up. When a mother can't bring formula and milk for her newborn on the plane, something is fucked up. This country and the airlines are fucked up and the people who get elected need to be in charge. The people whose power is dependent upon doing a good job need to be responsible for air travel. This is the way democracy is supposed to work.

I can still see myself in my desk in 4rd grade. I was sitting in Mrs. Fox's glass, whose name later changed that year due to marriage. I had a blue social studies book and I can see myself in that desk in the layout of desks in that classroom. I remember all of us reading aloud all of the definitions of the various forms of governments in the world. I remember the Ms. Fox going into great depth when explaining democracy. I still remember my understanding, and I have that very same fundamental understanding. The People are in charge.

The People are in charge. That was my understanding then and that's how I feel now. It is the way it's supposed to be. The People elected the lawmakers. The lawmakers make the laws, and if more than half of those lawmakers agree on the law, then the law is passed and it goes to the President who has final say. If he likes it, he signs it and the law passes. If he doesn't, then the law isn't passed. What keeps this process going is the elected officials are the ones doing the work on this assembly line. They love working on the line because its power, and power is beyond awesome. If they don't do what you want, if they don't act on your behalf, then they will lose their power when the next election year comes around.

This is precisely why we need to that assembly line to be involved with airline security. The people who are elected and who have a lot to lose need to be in charge of these planes. Then the milk, raspberry tea, shaving cream, and hair gel can come back on the plane and passengers can feel safe knowing that there absolutely is an actual police force on the plane just in case of a hijacking. I wish more people thought like me. I'm a motherfucking trail blazer.
