Idaho Police Fuck With My Personal Life
For the past 8 hours, I have been thinking of what I'm going to say in this post. I have been thinking about how I will begin it, because it's such a major event. But there's no slick intro that I can possibly think of. So sit back and relax and be prepared to here one fucked up true story.
I got to work at 5:00 PM. I walked in, and a girl from my work told me that she saw my site and told me how hilarious my anti-religious comments were. That put me in a really, really good mood. It's one thing for people to tell you your site rules online. It's another when they're right in front of you. So like I said, I was in a very good mood, but not for long...
About 30 seconds later, my boss who is the owner of the place I work at says that he needs to talk to me in the office. My heart drops, and I think "What the fuck did I do?" I quickly reassured myself that I haven't done anything wrong and calmed myself rather quickly. Boy, was I wrong.
Let me first point out that I greatly look up to this man, and he will probably be the best boss I ever have in my entire life. That's how awesome this guy is. Anyways, my boss, the boss of bosses, the owner of my store, my employer informs me that a female detective from Idaho called him on his unlisted home phone to inform him that I was making threats against on my website.
I need to clarify something. In February, I worked at Store Y, and Boss Y was the manager. I was forced to quit because I could no longer take Boss Y's abuse. So I quit... and about a month later I called I called up Boss X. Boss X owns Store Y and Store Z. He is the man. He was kind enough to let me come back to work at Store Z, where I worked before I transferred to Store Y. My comment in February was directed towards the abusive Boss Y. I know it's confusing without being able to mention the store name and location but I really can't do that anymore. I hope that's enough to follow. You might have to read it one more time to get it. I can't mention names, so it I'm really forced to be very evasive.
Anyways... How they could possibly do this is unknown to me. Did they use the Patriot Act? Quite possibly.
The post in question is this one. Made on February 13th, 2005. That is 5 months ago. I'll copy and paste exactly what I said that caused a detective in Idaho to call my employer and "warn" him:
Im Posting From My Cell Phone At Work. It Was Supposed To Be My Day Off. I Want To Kill. I Hate This Fucking Place. My Boss Is A Moody Cunt. I Want Her To Get The Hiv. I Could Never Be So Lucky
That's it. I made a post from my cell phone during a smoke break at work. I was pissed off because my boss at that store was degrading me and embarrassing me in front of co-workers and customers. I was also pissed off because it was my only day off that week and I had to come in and work for some reason. I don't remember. So instead of bitching at her, going off on her, being rude to a customer, or being rude to co-workers, I simply did a little bit of venting on my blog via my cell phone so I would not do any of that. I used to have very bad anger problems but I've learned to control them very well. But that's beside the point.
What did I say in that post that would give a detective cause to call the owner of my place of employment? Who, I might add, should be working on the Joseph Duncan case, possibly figuring out how this man wasn't a suspect when he was a current fugitive accused of child molestation. The answer if very simple.
I said nothing wrong. I said "I want to kill". I didn't say I wanted to kill anybody. I didn't even mention the name of the person I was talking about! I said "I want to kill" in reference to the fact that I had to work on my only day off that week, and I was just saying those exact words to point out my frustration with the fact that I had work more than 7 days in a row. I then mentioned that my boss was being a "moody cunt". Well, she was, and it's the truth. What can I say? I didn't call her a cunt, because I wouldn't insult my boss to their face. I also said I hope she gets "the HIV". That is said as in "the hihv". When I say it in that sense, in that style, isn't obvious I'm not serious? Do I really want her to get the HIV virus? Of course not. Does anyone really think I want someone who was simply rude and treated me like shit to gets AIDS? Of course not. It was a playful, sarcastic, exaggerated insult.
But forget all that. Can someone point out the threat to me? Because I'm having a really hard time seeing any cause to hunt down a blogger's employer and attempt to get him fired by informing him of content on my website. My website has absolutely nothing to do with my work. They are completely unrelated. This is the internet. This blog is my way to entertain people, make them laugh, and inform them. For a law enforcement officer in a completely different state to call my work and fuck with my personal life is a very serious injustice.
I know what's really going on here. If you read my comments in that post, you will see a whole lot of extremely hardcore anti-religious rhetoric. I obviously pissed some detective in Idaho. I obviously offended them. They had absolutely no right whatsoever to use their law enforcement powers to barge into not just my personal life, but my work life. This is my income here. When they chose to call my employer and to "warn him of threats and content on my website", they tried to get me fired.
That's right. That is what I believe. There was no serious cause for concern in that post. Nothing could be construed as threatening. I wasn't threatening. I was venting about being treated like shit and being pissed off that I had to work so much. This was also when my bipolar was untreated, so I was an emotional wreck at this time. But I'm getting off the subject. The fact of the matter is that I offended someone who is a law enforcement officer in Idaho, and they decided they were going to abuse their power and try to get me fired.
Too bad for them that I have the most fucking amazing boss in the world, and he completely understands what I'm all about. He knows me. They probably thought I was talking about him. I bet they were pretty shocked when he informed them that I no longer work with the person who that post was about. If they really thought I was a threat, they would have read more than one post on my blog and realized that I switched to a different store owned by the same man because I emotionally could not handle working with this woman. I am very, very grateful to my employer for not firing me. Because if I were him, I would have fired me.
And because of that fact, I know that I would be jobless right now if I didn't have such an awesome boss. All because of a pissed off Idaho police officer who felt like using their police powers to screw with someone who offended them on the internet. That's real nice. I can't wait until tomorrow, when I call every county in Idaho and find out who is responsible for this and demand an apology. I will keep everyone fully updated on this situation.
In the mean time, I have to go through over 300 posts I've made and take out any references to where I work, and also make a huge new disclaimer that will be on the main page as to prevent this from ever happening to me again. I will not be fucked with in my real life because of what I say on the internet. I will not back down. I will not change the way I write. I will not be intimidated by pissed off cops who want to deny me of my 1st amendment right. I will continue being me, no matter what happens.
I may even contact a lawyer on Monday. Who knows. I hope I'm even allowed to be telling this story. This might even be confidential... I don't even know now. If I find out it is, I might have to delete this. Sorry guys, but the person who employs me has the final say when it comes to this story. But I'm pretty sure it's cool to talk about.
I just can't believe this is happening. I can't believe that the people who failed to connect the dots are fucking with my personal life just because I offended them with a little anti-religious rhetoric. This is how they came across that post though... Something is messed up with my Blogger profile page, which you can see by clicking my face up there. It shows my most recent post as... Yep, you guessed it, the post in question. That was 5 months ago. A time when I was in an emotional hell and when I had an illness that was being treated with a drug that actually makes the illness worse. Anti-depressants for someone with bipolar is a recipe for disaster. I went through hell because of a Doctor's ignorance. And that was all at this exact time. Trust me, I was acting very very well given everything I was dealing with.
I would like any and everyone to comment on this post, and give me their honest opinion on this situation. I can count on the regular commentators to, but I really need you casual visitors to just take a couple minutes out and let me know what you think. I will be printing out this entire post, along with every comment and I will mail it, fax it, and email it to the police department that is responsible for this, once I find out. I will not back down, and I will not be pushed around by people who spit on the constitution. I can be investigated in and out. I have nothing. I don't commit crimes. I've got not one skeleton in my closet. So I encourage all the investigation from any other police officers who are offended by my rhetoric. You will find absolutely nothing. I have a feeling this isn't the end. And I have a feeling I'm in for a big fight. In closing...
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. I didn't even have to copy and paste that. I know it by heart. Believe that.

Wow man, that's pretty lame. When I first thought about this a little, I thought more along the lines of them trying to protect your "boss". But then I realized that if they honestly thought that you were a threat and really wanted to kill someone, they would've not contacted your boss. They would've tracked you down and arrested you. If you ask me, that's an obvious abuse of power.
DISCLAIMER FOR INVASIVE POLICE OFFICERS WHO LIKE TO ABUSE THEIR POWERS:
I THINK MATT IS A ENTERTAINING WRITER. I DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING HE SAYS. I DON'T AGREE WITH EVERYTHING HE SAYS. I HAVE A MIND OF MY OWN AND THINK ON MY OWN. PLEASE DON'T HUNT ME DOWN BECAUSE I THINK HE MADE A GOOD POINT.
Bubba be reachin' for his hip waders 'cause the bullshit is gettin' mighty deep in here!
Matt says: A time when I was in an emotional hell and when I had an illness that was being treated with a drug that actually makes the illness worse. Anti-depressants for someone with bipolar is a recipe for disaster. I went through hell because of a Doctor's ignorance.
I bet it's not doctor's ignorance. This is the way those pills work.
BTW, I would thank the police officer if he would warm me about my employee that wish me a painful death.
my employee that wishes me a painful death.... because I give him work.
maybe the solution is to give you less work, or no work at all... :)
OK, if I didn't explain this properly, then I need to edit my post because I think fooky is misunderstood.
I worked at Store B, with boss B, as an assistant manager. This is the person who I posted about 5 months ago.
I now work at Store A, which is owned by Boss A, who also owns store A, and who is the boss of store B. Get it? I think that maybe I didn't explain this clearly in my post. I will go back and make sure I make this clear. The person I was talking about isn't even my boss anymore. I have no affiliation with her other than her being the boss of a store that is owned by the big boss. It sucks that I have to talk like that, but I have no choice now.
So fooky, I would imagine since I cleared that up, your opinion would change.
If not then well, you're asinine. I didn't wish her a painful death. It was not serious. Didn't you see me say that? Or did you only read half of my post. I did not sincerely wish a sexually transmitted disease on my former boss. After being treated like shit all day by this person, I said it a joking way. It was obvious I was joking. I fucking referred to it as "The HIV" for christ's sake. I didn't say "IM GONNA INJECT HER WITH A NEEDLE FILLED WITH THE HIB INFECTED BLOOD". No, I would never say that. I was being over the top in describing my anger at the time because that's how I write. It's not meant to be taken seriously, and I thought it was pretty obvious.
Someone please let me know if I made it clear that I no longer work with the person who I was talking about 5 months ago when I made that post.
Wow, Rick. I didn't even think of that but you made a very excellent point. Codes of ethics were seriously broken, because you are exactly right... They have no jurisdiction. I can't believe I never thought of that. And you are right, it is very scary to see a cop taking power into their own hands. Because now I have to wonder what's next. I have to wonder if maybe there is an investigation going on on my local PD. I have nothing to worry about, but it still bothers me because I've done nothing in the first place.
I would also like to go on the record here and say that I don't think all cops or bad. In fact, in my county at least, every single cop who's ever pulled me over has been extremely cool, respectful, and understanding. Excluding the state cops. I've encountered one and he was an asshole, fishing for something to give me a ticket for. But this is off topic.
Thanks a lot for the comment and the insight man. I really appreciate it.
I don't believe police is envolved here, it's more likely that your own boss reads your blog :)
I appreciate the theory. And if anyone else has them, let me know. This could be possible, but I highly doubt it. Especially since I told him I would apologize to the person I said those things about.
I don't know... It does sound sort of suspicious. I think if he was reading it, he would just tell me to take out any mentions of where I work. I don't think he'd make up a big elaborate lie.
Like I said, if anyone else has any theories, let me know. Because something does seem a bit out of place.
It's fucking paranoid. Being from a very different country this is something that I just can't understand. The abuse of power and the stupidity of the whole situation is crazy! Alright you said really bad things about your Boss, but come on...Do they really think that you would do sth? Why are they wasting time and people to pursue you?! Why aren't they working?
I don't believe in The Patriot Act and I sure wouldn't allow this as a citizan. It wouldn't solve anything and would intensify the paranoia already settled in the US.
Your whole story is just unbelievable.really...these are sad times...
Yeah man, these really are sad times. I always take the opinions from people in other countries a bit more than those who live here because they're outside our box. If they read 5 posts on my blog, they'd know I'm very satirical. I think the post before or after the one that got me in trouble, I show a picture of an elephant taking a shit and I talk about how funny it is.
Is that the behavior of a psychotic murderer? No it isn't. I've read the words of a psychotic murderer and mine are nowhere near. I'm just a funny guy with a blog who's being taken literally when I'm just being entertaining.
I really wish I had a say in wether we have the Patriot Act or not... But we don't live in a real democracy.
I'm a she...:)
You said you don't live in a real democracy...that's what first came to my mind also.We had these kind of persecutions when we were living in a Dictatorship!! Not that many years ago, but nevertheless in another life.
I don't really enjoy reading stuff in front of a computer, and I often get bored while reading blogs. I like yours, don't change.
Oops, sorry! I hate when I do that. Our government format has just been raped over the past 100 years. It's just not what it's supposed to be anymore. I learned in school that in our government, we were in control of what happens and the people run the country. It's a nice concept, but it's not the truth... It's just not happening the way it's supposed to.
I'm extremely glad you enjoy my blog. I'm trying extremely hard to keep myself in the same mindset having 1000 readers a day now as I did when I had 100 a day. What country are you from anyway?
Right now I'm living in Germany, but in the end of this month I'm going back to Portugal, my home country.
People got interested when you started to blaspheme in the fifth nail. "Religion is the opium of the people". Unfortunately it's still accurate. I have no problem with religion when it doesn't generate a joint behaviour and way of thinking. Instead religion tends to suffocate individualism. mad world, really.
Very interesting. I'm fasinated with people who live outside of the US. I have no idea why. I do believe religion is the opium of the people. It's just another way of escaping reality to make life easier.
I also have no problem with relgion when it doesn't resemble a cult, and when it's not being imposed on me. Also, when I'm not being judged and looked down upon because I don't share their belief. If you notice, I only give out anti-religious rhetoric when people give it to me. I always give every Christian reader and commentator the benefit of the doubt, and initally believe they're real modern day Christians. Then they always seem to say something really stupid. That's calmed down a lot though lately.
Again, a Christian is OK to me, until they impose their beliefs on me or look down on me because I don't agree. I think there's more real Christians that what I believe. Most people in real life seem to respect the fact that I don't believe in a God. Oh well, I'm way off topic now but I couldn't help but get into your comments. I'm just a talker. Once I get going, its hard to stop me.
One last thing... What I hate most about religion is that it does suppress INDIVIDUALISM. And that's a very special thing. I just wish that crazy offended power tripping cops would call me and ask me questions instead of trying to get me fired. I mean... That's my income. That's serious shit. Hopefully, I will get answers soon.
Just a quick note: If you're going to leave an unintelligent comment with absolutely no point, then I'm just going to delete it. "GROW THE FUCK UP" I'm not even going to respond to it. Please, I just don't want any of that shit on this subject because I think it's pretty serious.
I've been up all night trying to take out any mentions of my place of employment in over 300 posts. I also replied to all 46 comments I received in the 8 hours I was at work and while I was typing the latest post. I had to write and add a disclaimer to my site, and I also had to write a letter of apology to the person who I wished the hiv upon. I've also been working on my girlfriend Dalyce's blog for her, so I'm absolutely exhausted. This is all after 8 hours at work. I am beat, I am rambling, and I need to shut the fuck up and goto bed. It's 8:36 am.
I'm sure I'll wake up and I'll have a shit load of messages to reply to. Well, I hope anyway. I was trying to find a good story to talk about before I went to bed, but I want to keep the focus on my main story right now and see what the people think. I'll reply when I wake up. I just don't want people to think that I'm not devoting all of my time and energy to this site, because I really wanna keep the new readers entertained. Enough babble. You've been introduced to exhausted Matt.
my guess would be that is was someone posing as a police officer. someone that found out about your website as i did, by following the link from your sig on the bottom of a posting at the duncan blog.
someone with more knowledge than myself on tracking down your personal information. someone that took offense to you posting anything but that which is derogatory on the duncan blog. given the current events surrounding the creator of that blog, it's easy to deduce that anyone of thousands of incensed individuals could and would take the time/effort to mess with you.
this is just a guess, i followed your sig not through animosity towards you, but simply a curiousity inspired by a clickable signature link.
many of those folks reading that site are so whipped up that it's just statistics that someone else did the same as me, but with malice intended.
hope things calm down for you, and my regrets to your recent difficulties.
What a man does what he has no problems?
He creates problems for himself, then he solves them :)
Matt says: I do believe religion is the opium of the people. It's just another way of escaping reality to make life easier.
You're right, do not escape the reality and make your life harder! :)
In a few cases religion makes the life easier especially in complex social relationships, but most importantly it makes after-life easier.
read it: What a man does when he has no problems? :)
now why shall Christianity make your life easier?
here's why: if your boss is christian, he will probably try to forgive you, but if he also has a similar blog and writes similar things about his employees that are lazy and whatever, then I don't know :)

There's no way that it isn't a cop. The person they called has a hardcore private unlisted phone number. I can't even figure out how they did all of this shit. Regardless, no one would spend the money on a private investigator, who I still doubt would be able to do this, just to fuck with me. Thanks for the comment.
Never Again:
You're right. Religion makes life easier. There is no after-life. Sorry to inform you. Anyway, I'd rather live in reality with difficulty. It's the same reason why I don't do drugs.
As for this Anonymous Douche:
"I don't understand why the people who were reading his blog didn't take any hints from his psychotic banter."
Very good observation. I was waiting for someone to bring this up, and I will slap it right the fuck down. All you have to do is go look at the last 3 posts of Joseph Duncan's blog. Now you can look at the posts surrounding the post in question from February. That page is here.
Or you can just look at the post I made a few days after it right here. It's simply a picture of an elephant taking a shit on a toilet. I don't think psychotic mass murderers would post pictures of elephants shitting if they were really committed to being psychotic.
The fact of the matter is that I offended someone in Idaho, and they tried to fuck with my job. If they would have read more than that one and only post on my blog, they would have seen how much smoke I blow out of my ass. It's common sense.
I didn't think "I want to kill" was funny. I wasn't even trying to be funny with that specific phrase. I was only trying to convey my anger of having to work on my only fucking day off, which I am still pissed off about. It's satire. You really to get the sand out of your vagina and understand that post 9/11 or not, I'm not the type of person who is a threat. Reading my entire blog would prove that.
You published comments in a public forum that could be perceived as threatening about your boss; and you are surprised that it was reported? Not only were your comments easily perceivable as directly threatening another person (whom you identified), but are bordering on being libelous on top of that. Since you can’t figure out why someone would perceive that post as threatening, why don’t you make a similar comment sometime referring to ‘The President of the United States’ and see what happens?
You seem to be having trouble working out why a police officer in Idaho would call your place of work to alert them of your perceived threats. Well here’s a wild guess… You posted inflammatory comments on a pedophile’s blog in Idaho who is now the subject of a massive investigation; police officers and FBI there are of course studying the blog (and probably anyone’s linked to it) and see a comment by another person calling out the fact that you wish HIV and death on people.
From http://fifthnail.blogspot.com/2005/05/still-confused.html:
Some crazy fuck up there suggested that I knew about this blog before this guy was caught today, which is untrue. Just wanted to defend my good name from slander.
On subject: I bet this blog will be a very big part of his trial. It'll probably the the first time in a major trial that a blog will be so prominent. I'm looking forward to that.

Matt the sick, you might not be a baby raper but you wish HIV and death on people. FUCK YOU! YOu sick son of a bitch. You're no better than the molester.
# posted by Anonymous : 2:19 PM
And what you meant to say in that comment was that you wanted to defend your name against libel, not slander. Speaking of which, libel is probably a legal definition that you should understand in depth considering the nature of some of your writings.
Your ‘disclaimer’ (http://www.thesick.net/disclaimer.html) is as hilarious as it is pathetic; you really allowed that huge intellect of yours to shine through there. Passing off the bile you write as ‘satire’? It is you who doesn’t understand the meaning of the word. Keep up the good work and see how much protection that disclaimer affords you.
Matt, I think the cop was a weasel, but you must admit that you have a rather abrasive way of putting things. You catch more bees with honey, Honey. Let me know what you thought about that last e-mail I sent you.
Well a lot has been said here and I'm not even gonna address the police mentality. When you say you hope someone catches aids it obviously isn't a credible threat on their life. Maybe if you had wished harder Matt...better luck next time.
As usual the weakest and least intelligent posts come from the people who hide behind the mask of anonymous. The don't have the guts to come out as who they really are and stand behind their weak ass opinions.
What part of satire does'nt this site not fit?
Definition:Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.
Do you not consider this caustic wit? Is caustic wit only the things you find edgy but not offending to your sensibilities? That makes you a hypocrite plain and simple. You are all for your rights but not others whom you don't agree with. Pretty easy way to be if you ask me. The hard part about being an American is standing up for the rights of those you don't agree with.
I agree with Matt on most things in principal. In real life we probably couldn't be any farther apart. But if I sit here and say because I don't agree with it then it should be banned, or not protected speech, or the police should hassle him for something so asinine as saying he hopes someone gets AIDS then America is done, over, finished.
Matt's abrasive way of putting things is his right as long as he is not threatening people directly..IE(Im gonna kill you). So are the police gonna hassle me because the name of my website is killerisme.com? Does that make me threatening or evil or abrasive? Or could it be my favorite song and people don't take the time to understand anything deeper than the basic knee jerk reaction?
Opinions are like assholes and most people are, or something like that I never have like folk wisdom. We all have opinions and we are all for the most part supposed to be a free people who are at war with terrorists with child rapists and people who otherwise want to destroy our freedoms and the best we can do is say you suck because you talk bad. Whatever happened to sticks and stones people?, for chrissakes!
Freedom is always and exclusively freedom for the one who thinks differently.
- Rosa Luxemburg
Matt’s comments are not satirical, nor are they anything closely resembling it. If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satire you’ll find this among many other definitions: "The main intent of satire is political, social, or moral and not comic".
But just in case I was missing something, I read through some more posts here to see where this satire existed. All I could find was vitriol and bile and uninformed opinions – like those disgraceful and shameful comments made about the Iraqi civilian casualty numbers.
So where in my comments did I mention freedom, or attack his right to express himself, or say these comments should be banned? Where did I say I am all for my rights and against the rights of others? I’m simply pointing out that since he’s incredibly stupid enough to post such comments in a public forum in this day and age then he should willing to accept the consequences. And the consequences in post-Columbine America is that such comments posted on the internet will get reported to the police more often than not. It is an unfortunate reflection on modern US society, I agree. But it is the reality of the times.
It’s ironic that you like to make pompous (and laughable) statements like “The hard part about being an American is standing up for the rights of those you don't agree with” and then proceed to call me various names because you didn’t like/agree with my comments or the fact that I chose to exercise the right to post them anonymously.
Dave, happily anonymous in Seattle.
Hi Matt,
Sorry to hear you had such an extremely stressful day.. I think that sometimes people jump to conclusions before doing their research.. Honestly, when I first read your comment on the Joseph Duncan site and then linked to your site and saw the comment you made about your boss, I was kind of taken aback.. But, I decided to continue to read.. and found out for myself that you ARE very sarcastic and not out to hurt anyone.. you have a different way of expressing your views in a more comedic (which may offend some) way.. but that doesnt make you a bad person. I personally ended up lmao when I read all your blogs and found myself pleasantly surprised. You have a sense of humor, I really wish these other people did too.. Unfortunately, it seems like there are too many people out there who are always too politically correct and cant take a joke.. People who may be directing their personal anger and stress towards you because maybe they have no courage to direct towards those real factors in their own lives.. thats why bullys bully.. get it? unfortunately we live in a world where sometimes just by asking someone for directions you can be shot on a highway, cause the other guy got road rage.. not cool.. i think these people need to realize .. you are a 19 yr old. kid with a VERY sarcastic sense of humor and good vocabulary, but none of the things you said were direct threats to anyone and should not be taken as such.. Also, id be more careful about displaying so much personal info on the net.. there are some real psychos out there.... trust me.. Im a criminologist and you'd be surprised the things I studied and have seen.. Stalkers!?!?!
Sorry Im posting anonymous.. but im new to this..

Well Dave you may not believe this but not every post is about you and I was speaking specifically about you or I may have been I'm not sure since you don't use your name. I was under the impression that anon was not one person.
Actually I will stick to Websters dictionary for the definition not Wikipedia but I can see why you would use that since it fits your needs. But in any case if it says the main intent then it is acknowledging that there is a case for it being comic.
You are right in one case if you have the courage to state your opinion in a public forum people who don't agree with it, the politically correct crowd who like to slip words like Columbine into a conversation to stir emotion or put a negative spin against their opponent are likely to cry to big brother.
If you address nothing else I would like you to address one point and try to do it in a rational manner and that is to tell me what is pompous or laughable about saying that "The hard part about being an American is standing up for the rights of those you don't agree with". Again since I don't know if anonymous is one person or many I don't know that I attacked you specifically anywhere. Also in my post above where did I call you any names or say you don't have the same rights that I think Matt or myself have? If you think that you are mistaken.
I would take a bullet for even the most misguided and idiotic points of view to be shared. (Not that I'm saying yours are). I think a lot of people don't like cursing or harsh criticism of others so they rag Matt in an underhanded and very smug way that is no better than what they are attacking and I think it is weak. If that fits you or it hits you too close to home so be it. It is my opinion as well.
This is a quote from a famous American..
Free speech is intended to protect the controversial and even outrageous word; and not just comforting platitudes too mundane to need protection.
Is it pompous and laughable??

First of all, let me point out that you are a flaming liberal. I just need to point that our first and foremost. If you believe that "the post in question" was threatening, then you're just completely fucking stupid. There's no other way to put it. There was nothing threatening about it. I made no threat. I mentioned no names. I jokingly wished a sexually transmitted disease on my boss. I will bet every penny in my bank account that you have either wished harm or ill will on your boss at one point or another, either verbally or in your mind. Don't act like you're so much better than me, because you aren't. And of course... just about everyone knows that threatening the president is crossing the line. I ripped a fucking new asshole on a columnist from the Guardian who basically called for the assassination of President Bush. Go look around my blog, you'll find the post.
I can post all the inflammatory comments I want on my blog. I could post pictures of me having sex with your mother. I could post pictures of you having sex with your mother. I can post whatever I want. I should be able to say whatever I want, as long as I am not threatening, and not have my personal life attacked by police officers in a completely different part of the country. I don't really wish for anyone to die. Go back just to last week. I talk about how I wish Tom Cruise gets AIDS. Why aren't the Idaho police tracking down Mr. Cruise? I don't remember for sure, but I think I wished death on him too. It's satire. I don't really want him to die. I just like to exaggerate my emotions for comedic value. Can you understand that?
What I write is opinion, comedy, and satire combined that makes for good entertainment. You can't seem to get that through your fat head. The disclaimer protects me just fine. I wrote it in 5 minutes, and I'll probably add to it but it does it's job for now. Besides, no one can sue me for a goddamn word I say. Isn't America great?
Rhonda:
The cop was a weasel. On Monday, I'm finding out who it is and I will get an apology one way or another. I don't care how far I have to go, I will get someone to apologize to me. And yeah... I know, I would catch more bees if I used honey. But using... whatever I use now is just too much fun. And I'll be responding to your email tonight. Thanks for the comment Rhonda.
James:
Haha... "Maybe if you had wished harder" I know. I even said "I could never be so lucky" in the post. I mean come on, it was just more than obvious I was being goofy. But like I said, I believe they were offended by the comments in that post, and that is why they decided to fuck with me. I mean, I went off pretty good on that one.
You are exactly right. This is caustic wit. But because he's an offended liberal, he wants everything he doesn't like to just go away. I bet he would love to see my site shut down.
I love to be abrasive. And that's just my style. And just like you said, it's my right and I never threaten people directly. I can hope for bad things to happen to people all I want. Obviously James, you are a psychotic murderer and you will soon be caught! You'd better watch yourself. You too will soon be under investigation for every unsolved murder in the state of Texas.
Thanks, as always, for the great comment James.

Do not tell me what I write isn't satire. I'm the one writing it. I guarantee you that I know for a fact that many things I say are satire. So don't, for even one second, doubt that. As for wikipedia, keep in mind that while wikipedia is a great resource, it is a free enclypedia written by everyone.
But since you put so much stock in Wikipedia, we'ill just look at the first sentence of the page you mentioned.
"Satire is a literary technique of writing or art which principally ridicules its subject (for example, individuals, organizations, or states) often as an intended means of provoking or preventing change."
HMMMMM. You pick and choose what to copy and paste from that page. You find the one thing that might contradict me and take it completely out of context. Well there's the first sentence. Satire (much of what I say on my website) is a literary technique (my style) of writing or art which principally ridicules its subject (Tom Cruise, Bosses, politicians, etc), for example individuals, organizations, or states, often as an intended means of provoking or preventing change.
Half of what I talk about is what needs to change! So take that to that bank. You have been owned. I don't need to the rest of your utterly stupid comments. Post-Columbine? As if two fucked up kids should dictate the policy of the greatest country in the world? Why is your head so far up your asshole, Dave?
A Very Cool Anonymous:
I appreciate your empathy. Yesterday was pretty shitty. I was a nervous wreck for the first few hours. I really like your comment though, because I really believe you are the perfect example of the average reader of my site, and I want the shit talkers to take notice and understand that this is what normal is.
So you found my site, and you continued to read and realized that I wasn't a psychotic satanist. You realized I do exxagerate things and purposely go over the top so I can entertain the people who take the time to come to my site. I don't want to waste peoples' time.
I do indeed have a different way of expressing myself. It's just the way I am. Maybe one day, if I ever end up in broadcast, I will clean it up. Until then, I'll say fuck a lot. Because fuck is a good word. I can say that you understand me very well. I'm very glad you found this all out for yourself. Believe it or not, many more people message me on AIM or email me and give me kind messages and tell me how funny I am. People only comment when they either really agree, or really disagree with something. There are regular readers who comment too, and I really really appreciate you guys.
I do get it... There could be some truth in your theory, and it's a good one. Perhaps Dave has testicular cancer or something and he's misdirecting his anger towards me. I don't know. Seriously though, I do believe many angry comments come from people who are just so stressed and angry about things in their own life, and when they see something on my site that offends them, they see me as someone who they can take their stress out on because well, this is the internet. Very good point.
I definitely do have a VERY sarcastic, and more often than not, sick sense of humor. But I think that's an important element of my writing. Someone has to say these things. Ohhhh you're a criminologist? That's fucking awesome. Whenever I meet new people from my website I am always so fasinated in what they do. Like Jeff, who commented on a few posts in the past few days, he worked for Microsoft. Email me or something so we can talk about criminology. I am very interested. Perhaps you can inform me more as to how one could use information that's on this site to track me down and kill me. And don't worry about posting anonymously. People are busy and making an account is sort of a pain in the ass. It's perfectly fine. However, if anyone is going to disagree with me anonymously, please leave a name so I can address you as something other than "Anonymous Douche Bag".
Thank you very much for the comment!
James:
Another good point, and I didn't even realize it. He played the Columbine card! When will the 9/11 card come? I'm still waiting for the race card. So many politically correct cards to play. I ignore all political correctness. I barely acknowledge there is such a thing in my own writing. I just pretend it doesn't exist.
Your quote is exactly right James. And I'd like to respond to it with a small example. There's this obnoxious black family who lives across the street. This guy has this stupid fucking Impala with big ass chrome rims, and a very expensive system in it. At 9 AM, at least 3 times a week, he blasts his stupid fucking music and I can hear it all the way in my room. No, I can feel it from in my room. He even does this often when I'm working on my car. And even though it pisses me off beyond comprehension, and I seriously just want to go over there and smash him in the face with the very wrench I'm using to work on my car with, I don't... Because even though it makes me fucking crazy, he has the right. I might have something I like to do that may make someone else feel like I do. If I want my freedoms, then he needs to be allowed to have his. No matter how much it bothers me. Because it would bother me 10 times more if in exchange for his freedoms being taken away, mine had to be taken too. And that is exactly what your quote is all about.
"The hard part about being an American is standing up for the rights of those you don't agree with".
Your comment was an argument ender, James. What more is there to say? You nailed it dead on.
I'd kill for someone who believes in the quotes you post to be elected to any government office. There would be a whole lot of change.

I’m getting beaten up by a few people here but I’m sure there are others who read this and would agree with me. That is the nature of debate.
James, you called me a hypocrite among other things. Since you don’t know anything about me, it’s hard to understand what gives you the right to call me a hypocrite, since you don’t actually know what I believe in to begin with. And you’ve completely misinterpreted both of my posts.
I didn’t slip Columbine to stir emotion, I was merely making the point that in the US, since Columbine, any perceived threats against people found on the internet are far more likely to be taken seriously, and acted upon – as was the case here. Matt should not be surprised or offended by this - it is reality. And he’s an idiot for making them in such a public forum.
In my opinion your statements were pompous; you make it sound like America is the only country in the world where people care about Freedom of expression, or for that matter Freedom of the press, or Freedom of association and so forth. I come from the country of your ancestry, and I know only too well the blind hatreds and bigotry that blighted my homeland for most of the last century, and is still going on to this day. I know all about discrimination and people having to stand up and in some cases die for what they believe in, so please don’t preach to me about freedoms.
Matt, why do you project such anger to those who don’t agree with you? It’s quite sickening the way you suck up to those who take your side; it’s pathetic really. To clear up a few things: just because I live in Seattle doesn’t mean I am automatically a liberal. But I’m sitting here thinking maybe you should get out of white-trash-ville and come to somewhere like Seattle, you’d thrive here in the climate of openness and tolerance for diverse points of view and maybe get rid of some of that anger that’s poisoning you. Wishing HIV on someone is not a joke, it’s effectively wishing that they die, since it’s an incurable disease. And you did indirectly identify the person in question, or in the Tom Cruise example you did it directly. Silly boy.
I too have read through your blog Matt, and it is neither comical nor satirical. There are many definitions of satire, and you can twist them any way you want, I don’t care. Oscar Wilde wrote great satire, you don’t do anything of the sort. Maybe some day when you do finally really step over the line and directly libel/threaten someone then you’ll understand the point I was making – which is posting this type of stuff on such a public forum is asking for trouble.
An example:
I am now an assistant manager at *CENSORED*. It was a promotion that was given to me by the boss himself. Pretty neat, I know. However, the manager at this new store I'm working at is a cunt. She's female. She's very moody. She's one of these fucking people with like 50 different sides to them. I never know what she's thinking. She never compliments; only criticizes. It's fucking obnoxious. She's salaried and makes like, $100 a day, versus my fucking petty $6.15. I was making a fuck lot more as a driver.
Trying to provoke me by bringing my mother into this just proves how much of a low-life scumbag you really are. You can’t debate in a mature or reasonable fashion, but have to resort to this kind of attack. You launch your chicken shit attacks on people like me because at the end of the day that’s all you’ve got.
You don’t even really understand what it is you’re arguing about. Of course you can write what you like on your blog, but the laws of the land will define whether or not what you wrote was perceivable as threatening or not, not your own sick twisted definitions. And people do not have the right to do whatever they want to do – that’s why we have laws so that the common good is protected from people like your black friend, who actually does not have the right to play music like that. He’s breaking a number of laws probably, depending on your locality – noise pollution, public nuisance, anti-social behavior laws to name but a few. Like you folks are so fond of saying, freedoms come with responsibilities…
Posting your opinions to a public forum such as this one means you will get positive and negative feedback. You really can’t seem to deal with anyone who disagrees with you – and that makes you a very poor poster boy for all those freedoms you so like to spout about.
I’ve made my point here and I’ll leave it at that.
Dave.
First of all, just so you know Dave, I had to repost your comment. I had to remove the mention of where I work. I didn't realize that was still in my blog. I thought I had removed all mentions. Anyway, I'm surprised you replied back. Here we go.
I'm an idiot for voicing my opinion in a public forum? Because I won't be intimidated by our politically correct Imperial Government? I don't think so. You're just envious of what I do on the internet and how I do it and you have no idea what to do about it. People have already stood up and died for freedom in this country so we don't have to. And that's all the more reason to put my rights to good use.
I don't have "much anger" for people who simply disagree with me. I have anger for those who disagree with me and put me down, insult me, and make rude comments in the process and therefor I fight back. What, you expect me to allow you blindly insult me with no response on my own website? I don't suck up to anyone. I tell everyone I appreciate their comments, and it's the truth. There's no sucking up about it. And whenever I disagree, I always say I do. I just do it civilly to those who aren't insulting me while giving that opinion.
Oh, yes it does. You're a blue state buddy. Regardless of where you live, I didn't even use that in my determination of you being a liberal. It's just so obvious, especially how you got so offended about my comments on Iraqi casualties. I have a feeling you hate freedom.
"White-trash-ville" As if you even have a clue as to what my city looks like. You've never been here, never lived here, haven't the slightest clue about anything in my location, and you're going to call it "White-trash-ville". You prove your ignorance for me.
HIV is a virus. AIDS is a full blown disease. I only wished a virus, that's all. And HIV is very treatable. Look at Magic Johnson. And I can joke about anything I want. I can even do it effectively. And no, I did not identify anyone. I don't know if you know what "Identify" means. I mentioned no names. I could be an intern in Tallahassee and Jeb Bush could be my boss for all you know. And Tom Cruise is a celebrity. He's open season.
You say that my blog is neither comical or or satirical, but that's just your opinion. The fact of the matter is that many of the things are say are comical and satirical. You need to understand this: I know it for a fact because I'm the one writing the shit. I know. Let's say you watch South Park. Factually, it is comedy. However, you might be extremely offended by its content and in turn say it's not comedy at all and it is nothing but immoral sludge that is a detriment to the American youth. Do you understand? You just can't get a good view of my blog from the left.
I was venting. Is this a problem for you? You copy and paste a 6-7 month old post, and use it as if you're making some point. There is no point to be made. The point of this blog is to vent about the things that piss me off. And that day, it was my new boss treating me like a piece of shit that was pissing me off. You don't know much about the situation, so I don't want to hear it. I am not asking for trouble. You just hate freedom of speech because you just aren't used to it in this country apparently. And you hope I get in trouble for something I say. You would just love for my freedoms to be revoked, wouldn't you? You're not a real American. Are you mexican? Are you an illegal? Hmm... I see why you're anonymous now.
Do you believe I was actually talking about your mother? I was talking as an example. I don't even know your mom. Yet you're gonna get all huffy and puffy and call me a scumbag and start using coarse language which from what I can tell isn't typical for you. It seems you are the one who has anger poisoning you. It was not an attack, only a humorous example of the freedom I have.
There is a big difference between saying I'm going to do something and hoping something happens. I can do this, and no matter how bad it pisses people off, they have to give me that right. And the second it is stepped on again, I will sue and I won't be working anymore, I can tell you that much. I'll be a full time blogger. So, sit around and hope for bad shit to happen to me as soon as it does it will be the beginning of a fight that I'll win, because I have the constitution on my side and the constitution is mightier than any law, any police officer, and any opinion on the face of this Earth.
Look at you, you fucking liberal rat. First of all, my black neighbor isn't my friend. I don't like him, at all. He has spoke to me once, when he walked to the edge of my sidewalk and asked if I knew where he could buy weed. That's the kind of fuck he is. So no, he is not my friend and I don't like him. But you'd really like to see his freedoms taken away too, right? You fucking Imperial Communist scumbag fuck. Playing music at 9 AM breaks no law. Especially since he is on his private property. But nothing is private in your eyes, and all property is owned by the government in your eyes. You're a fucking commie. Go back to Mexico or Cuba. Wherever the fuck you're from. You points have been ripped to shreds and you've been exposed for what you are. A communist who hates America and want's everyone in shackles.
Surprised I replied back? Whatever. I’ve been to Florida, and I’ve passed through the area where you live, so I know enough about it. I’ve probably seen a lot of more of your own country than you have, and I know I’ve definitely seen a lot more of the world. You yourself refer to the trailer parks and ghettos in your own blog, but then again what would I know...
You didn’t identify anyone? I was able to find the name of your place of work from your own blog in about 30 seconds, just like that cop did. That’s all they need – but you really don’t seem to get it. I don’t care about you or your blog, and I’m happy for you that you are exercising your rights of free speech. But there are limits to certain rights – even in the good ol’ US of A.
Take for instance the right of free speech that you are currently exercising. “The right to freedom of expression is not considered unlimited; governments may still punish (but not prohibit) certain damaging types of expressions. Amongst the aims considered legitimate are protection of the rights and reputations of others (prevention of defamation), and the protection of national security and public order, health and morals.”
But then again, you already know this. You already know that writing a threat against the US President would go beyond that limit. My point all along is that your comments about your boss, in my opinion and also the opinion of the police it seems, do go beyond certain limits of free speech. You bitch about not agreeing with that, but what you think has no relevance here. It’s what the Laws of Free Speech define that matters. Those are the laws of your country, they are good laws and they’ve been there a very long time. I don’t hope you get into trouble by something you say, but I do think that some day you will get into trouble.
But wait – then there’s this: “I am very, very grateful to my employer for not firing me. Because if I were him, I would have fired me.”
Really? So what the fuck are you bitching about then? You obviously do know what you did crossed the line. Am I confusing you yet?
And in my opinion you are a spineless chicken shit. Take this quote as an example:
“I then mentioned that my boss was being a "moody cunt". Well, she was, and it's the truth. What can I say? I didn't call her a cunt, because I wouldn't insult my boss to their face.”
You mean you were too chicken shit to say anything to her face and to tell her that her behavior was unacceptable, but felt free to write your bile in a place where you thought she’d never see it. You’re a real tough guy alright.
“My website has absolutely nothing to do with my work. They are completely unrelated. This is the internet.”
Boo hoo. Here’s anther thing that maybe that lawyer can explain to you if and when you talk to him about this: when you write comments on your site identifying your place of employment and making perceivable threatening comments against the boss of that establishment, then you’ve made it their business. I’ve seen people getting fired and more for a whole lot less than what you wrote; and maybe next time you won’t be so undeservedly lucky. Take it as a lesson and move on… While you’re at it, ask him about your neighbor’s rights re: the music playing. You may be pleasantly surprised by what he tells you. But then again, these are the laws of your country and you’re obviously an expert in them.
I knew once I identified myself as a non-America I’d get that kind of response. It’s as sad as it is predictable. You can call me whatever names you like, it doesn’t bother me. Like I said before, at the end of the day it’s all you have to offer.
“You points have been ripped to shreds and you've been exposed for what you are.”
LOL. I humbly bow before your superior intellect.
Anon:
You are right I called you a hypocrite because your comments are hypocritical, and I don't know you. But you say it like I need to know you to call you a name?! I'm confused because you just called Matt a chicken shit, have you met him and I'm not aware of it? Or could this be another case of you being a hypocrite?
If you aren't from America then you really don't understand about freedom, especially if you are from England. They are freedom lite on a good day. But thats just my opinion and here we have a right to it. It make sense why you would find a home in a liberal bastion like Seattle.
I love how liberals throw words like tolerance around like they are great things. I can probably tolerate a flame being close to my ass but that doesn't mean it is a good thing. Tolerance by its very definition means putting up with something foreign.
Recently they added to the dictionary the BS about respecting the rights and practices of others. My favorite definition is this. The ability of an organism to resist or survive infection by a parasitic or pathogenic organism. Much more fitting.
Tolerance to liberals means not only respecting the rights of someone to be a (insert deviance here) but to keep your opinion about it quite. There is no room for saying I think it is wrong and thats not freedom in any shape or form. That is submission by way of political correctness.
You think my statements are pompous because I make it sound like America is the only country in the world worried about freedom. Ill be honest with you this is the most strange in a line of very strange statements you have made. I was speaking from my experience and from my heart. I don't know how you took that as a slight to any other country I really don't. I have tried and tried but it just sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder. Then you say you come from the country of my ancestors (but I'm Irish and German) and go on to tell me how you know all about freedom blah blah. So if this is correct you should agree with me when I say that everyone has the freedom to their own voice especially when you don't like it. Especially when it bothers you. Thats what makes it freedom. Don't know what else to say. You call people a name and then you turn around and do the same thing yourself, you're a hypocrite and not even a very smart one. But we still love you, you keep things entertaining.
I am indeed surprised you replied back. And I thank you for doing so. I highly doubt you know a thing about where I live. If so, then prove it. Because that's a very bold claim to know something about the obscure town I live in.
Well first off, I've removed as many mentions of my place of employment as soon as I found out this happened. And I still didn't identify anyone. That's a popular food chain. It isn't a person.
I don't know where that came from, but I think it's fine except for the morals part. But that's fine, whatever. Everything I say falls under "opinion" and everything is in my own opinion. I can "In my opinion, the secret sauce on Mcdonald's Big Macs is cow ejaculate." That isn't defamation, because it's my opinion and all opinions, not matter how controversial or offense are protected by the constitution.
Opinion can never go beyond the line. There is no limits to how extreme an opinion can be. Because opinion is thought. It's a feeling. It's not even really an action, really. If done honestly, sharing your opinion is nothing more than thinking outloud. And no one can outlaw that, or restrict it. Because if that happens, then we have absolutely no freedom. That would kill our freedoms at the core. That would be shit straight out of Cuba and China. You cannot outlaw thought. So you are very, very mistaken.
"You obviously do know what you did crossed the line. Am I confusing you yet?" First of all, you'd better reevaluate your opinion of me. You assume too much. Use your brains, Dave. The exact reason that I would fire me if I were my boss in this specific instance is only because I have associated this blog with my place of employment. To some extreme individuals, it could directly reflect on my company. And I don't want that happening. That is why I removed all references to it. Do you get it? What I said wasn't wrong at all. It is only the association. that I believe was wrong, and I honestly never thought twice about it so that is a complete error of judgement on my part. I never imagined something I could say on the internet would come back at me in my personal life. Especially 5 months after the fact.
You say I was too chicken shit to say anything to my former boss' face. Would you condone me insulting a woman like that to her face? If I wasn't chicken shit in your eyes, and I did what you are suggesting, then I would be a stupid fuck in your eyes for saying something to get myself fired. Come on now, don't play games with me. You know just as well as I do that I did the right thing by venting my frustrations in a way that didn't effect anyone negatively. I need consistency here. And besides, I'd rather be "chicken shit" and a "smart fuck" then a "brave insult welding here" and a "stupid fuck". I have awesome survival skills. Do not question them.
Only an absolutely fucking ignorant person would perceive those comments as threatening. Everyone who I've talked to about this agrees. I don't understand what makes you so different. I think perhaps I made no threat. I only voiced an offensive opinion. And you're right, I did mention my place of employment and I did fuck up in that instance. That was a massive oversight on my part, and it will not happen again. I learned my lesson, and rectified the problem. I admit when I fuck up. That's what is so great about me. I don't claim to be perfect. I only claim to be right 98% of the time.
I get it now. You are ignorant. You're gonna attempt to preach to me about the laws of my own country when you aren't even a real citizen? No wonder you keep sounding like a communist and an absolute moron. You're naive and ignorant! That explains everything now.
"I humbly bow before your superior intellect." Yes... You do that. I'm glad you admit it. You're probably Canadian. You guys are a bunch of socialists anyway. Everyone knows that.
James:
You're right. He calls me a chicken shit, and he has never even met me. I could tell at least 5 stories that would prove otherwise, but unfortunately with all the police officers reading now a days, I am unable to. One especially good story that happened recently. But I can't talk about it. It's a doozy though.
Such a damn good comment James. Very good points, indeed. As always. I love Dave. He keeps me sharp for when I get into real debates.
So we’re back to the James & Matt Show again…
James, if you don’t know what I believe in, then you can’t call me a hypocrite because of an opinion I express, since you don’t know if the opinions I give are contrary to what my beliefs truly are. You can disagree with my opinion or statement, but you cannot call me a hypocrite. That was my point.
And calling Matt a chickenshit doesn’t make me a hypocrite either. My beliefs are that anyone who isn’t man enough to respectfully tell their boss that they object to their treatment, but instead publishes cheap slurs and derogatory comments about that person, as well as wishing they get HIV, on the internet, is a chickenshit. I’d be more than happy to tell him to his face. So my comment that Matt is a chickenshit wasn’t hypocritical, it was a statement of my opinion of him which matches what I believe. Look up the word in a dictionary if you’re still having trouble with it.
Where in any of my comments did I say anything about wanting people to have fewer freedoms, or for Matt or you or anyone else not to have the freedom to say what they want, where they want? Nowhere! Both you and Matt are so horned up about FREEDOM that you can’t even think straight, let alone read the opinions of others and understand them. I love Freedom of Speech; I think it’s a wonderful thing. Am I happy for you to say what you want to? Of course! Am I offended by it? Not in the slightest. Honestly I couldn’t give a fuck about you or what you say. But if you did say something that bothered me, that would be totally fine too. Like you say, it’s your right to say it. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, that wasn’t my point when I spoke about Matt’s comments about his boss, and yet again you’ve misinterpreted what I wrote…
Yes, in my opinion your comments were pompous. There are, at the last count I saw, 192 democratic countries in the world; all have equivalent laws protecting the same freedoms that people enjoy in the US. People in all those countries, and even in non-democratic countries, stand up for the rights of others, even those that they don’t agree with. And in case you don’t know the meaning of that word, here it is: pompous - characterized by excessive self-esteem or exaggerated dignity; pretentious. Perhaps you feel that some of my comments have been pompous, and they may well have come across that way. That is the nature of the written word sometimes.
Somehow my points of view have caused you both to turn this into a liberal bashing session, since you both have expertly identified me as one. And you accuse me of having a chip on my shoulder? You folks have some serious Liberal phobias, wow. Since you come from Texas, it’s understandable I guess. Unfortunately for you Matt, there isn’t a pill available yet that will help you cope with that. I believe Ann Coulter is funding research into developing one though: http://www.anncoulter.org.
I live in Seattle because of the job I do, but as it turns out it’s probably one of the nicest places you could live in the US. And the people are great too. So I’m very happy. If that makes me a Liberal, then it’s nice being Liberal, that’s all I can say.
Matt, read again (this time slowly) what I wrote about being in your area. You are indeed correct about opinions. It’s a pity you didn’t think about adding the magic words ‘in my opinion’ before your comments about your boss, or indeed into your watertight disclaimer so hastily created after the fact. But alas; using ‘in my opinion’ still wouldn’t have changed a thing once you identified where you work, and that the target of your anger was your female manager.
Would I condone you for insulting a woman to her face? No, I wouldn’t. But where did I say anything about you insulting your female boss? What I said was you were not man enough to respectfully tell her that you objected to her treatment of you. No insults or anger required.
This is yet another example in this debate of how both of you (Matt or James) seem incapable of reading or listening to someone else’s point and understanding it before responding, it’s tiring having to nit-pick like this all the time.
“Only an absolutely fucking ignorant person would perceive those comments as threatening.” Yip, only those folks and the Law it seems.
“You know just as well as I do that I did the right thing by venting my frustrations in a way that didn't affect anyone negatively” – well it affected you negatively, didn’t it?
We can argue about this for ever. My opinion won’t change – you wrote comments that could be perceived as threatening about your female manager, in your place of work which you identified, on a public journal. This journal is linked to another journal maintained by a pedophile under investigation for multiple heinous crimes, which led to an Officer of the Law in another state to read those comments and act upon them, quite correctly in the view of some but not all. You are a very lucky person not to have suffered far more serious consequences as a result of all this.
A far wiser person than I once told me "the only mistake you’ll ever make is the one you don’t learn from". Do yourself a favor, learn from this and move on. Go to college and channel your anger and passions into something really constructive. And I do honestly think you’d do very well for yourself in a place like Seattle or San Francisco or New York. Get out of that small town, it's poisoning you. I should know, I grew up in one.
Dave, anonymous in Seattle.
Dear Dave this will be quick since your post are making less sense all the time.
You say..James, if you don’t know what I believe in, then you can’t call me a hypocrite because of an opinion I express, since you don’t know if the opinions I give are contrary to what my beliefs truly are.
Huh?!? What the fuck does any of that rambling incoherent gibberish mean? So you go around and post things that you don't believe? Utter nonsense.
You say...Both you and Matt are so horned up about FREEDOM that you can’t even think straight, let alone read the opinions of others and understand them.
I'm trying I'm really trying but you are simply making no sense but then again maybe you just posted that and it is not what you really believe or mean?!?
You say...There are, at the last count I saw, 192 democratic countries in the world; all have equivalent laws protecting the same freedoms that people enjoy in the US.
To which I say BULLSHIT!! There are other countries who have a thin veneer of freedom where some things are okay but others aren't. America is the most free country in the world. Just the fact that you can own a gun here takes most of the others out of the equation. Sorry you cant see this but then again when you grow up in one of these places....
You said....Since you come from Texas, it’s understandable I guess.
To which I say...guess that means your out of ammo? It is the last resort of a feeble mind to attack the messenger instead of the message. You have consistently overlooked every time your points have been refuted in each post.
And maybe most laughable you say..
There are, at the last count I saw, 192 democratic countries in the world; all have equivalent laws protecting the same freedoms that people enjoy in the US. People in all those countries, and even in non-democratic countries, stand up for the rights of others, even those that they don’t agree with.
Really non democratic countries that stick up for the rights of those that they don't believe in?
Well Ill let that slide but you do realize that there are only roughly 191 countries in the world period. 192 if you count Vatican City, and 193 if you count Taiwan. So by your statement every country in the world is Democratic. Well thats some Utopia you have created. I love you man, its like playing T-Ball you just sit it up there and let me knock it out of the park.
BTW just because you can find all 193 countries here
BTW one more and final note on this and then Im done with it.
This is Matts show, Im just a guest here like everyone else. And since you dont give a fuck what I say you neednt reply to it and Ill do the same.
I'll reply to this tomorrow, I'm too tired to get reply before I went to sleep like I wanted to.
I’ll reply if I feel like it and don’t tell me otherwise. And I can’t help it if you don’t know the meaning of the word hypocrite. “So you go around and post things that you don't believe?” – Nope, that’s not it either.
Fair enough, I made an honest mistake when typing out my response, what I had meant to say was that 120 countries out of the 192 total were free and democratic. Or 266 countries if you read the CIA Handbook. It depends on which guide you choose. My mistake, and thanks for so ‘calmly’ pointing it out.
Me attacking the messenger instead of the message? You were the ones labeling me as a liberal because I happen to live in Seattle and also because you couldn’t think of anything more intelligent to say. I was just poking fun at you both, but it seems you’re a little self-conscious about the Texas thing. Relax there cowboy.
“Really non democratic countries that stick up for the rights of those that they don't believe in?” No, that’s not what I said either. What I said was “People in all those countries, and even in non-democratic countries, stand up for the rights of others, even those that they don’t agree with.” So am I making sense now? Or are you still having trouble reading and understanding what I write?
And when have my points been refuted? I’m reading what you wrote previously and still trying to figure that one out. You have your opinions and I’ve mine. You’ve refuted nothing.
“There are other countries who have a thin veneer of freedom where some things are okay but others aren't. America is the most free country in the world.” That’s a pretty bold statement coming from someone whom, I’m guessing, has never lived outside of the US. Please do correct me if I am wrong. I’ve lived here for over 2 years now and would argue that people’s freedom here is not as absolute as you would like to think; and I’ve talked to many other people about this who would agree with me, including Americans who lived abroad at some point. There are many things I need to do here, or limitations that are placed on me, that I simply wouldn’t have to think about in other countries. But that’s another discussion entirely. And yes, I would wholeheartedly agree with you that the US is a wonderful country, and I’ve had a great time living here, it’s been a wonderful experience. But it’s no utopia.
Dave
And here's an example of what I've been talking about: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8587969
"The Transportation Security Administration could not reconcile the two and fired him last week, saying his free speech rights as an aspiring rap singer did not extend to a right to check luggage at Houston Intercontinental Airport."
It's your right to say/sing/write/blog/etc. what you like - but that won't protect you when you step over the line.
I'm going to assume you're Dave.
Dave. I heard this when I was working today, and I had already compared it to myself before you even said anything. And you make a point.
If I, as a delivery driver, wrote on my website that I was a street racer and I often drove 100 mph, then yes, you'd be right. But I don't do that.
Arab Eminem was a fucking baggage screener. An arab baggage screener, in a post 9/11 world, rapping about flying airplanes into buildings, even in a satirical way, just isn't going to fly with anyone.
If he was rapping about the standard hoe slapping and drug using, I'm positive he wouldn't be fired. And even if his content was the same, and his profession was, let's saying a delivery driver. He wouldn't get fired.
It is the two very bad dynamics that just don't mix. THAT is the issue.
Very bad point made, I must say. I'm so good, I already had this argument played out in my head. I do that. When I listen to talk radio, I always think of the disagreeing point, no matter what they're saying. It keeps me in good debating shape.
