Myers Retires

To say that yesterday's news of Judge Alvin allowing the release of the unreleased Abu Ghraib pictures had nothing to do with General Richard Myer retiring today would be an absolutely ignorant statement.

I saw the headline "Myers Steps Down from Top Military Post" and my very first emotion was sympathy. Honestly, that was my very first reaction. General Myers was the fucking Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. When it comes to our military, there are two people higher than him. Donald Rumsfeld followed by George Bush at the top, of course. But below those two is this guy.

He has publicly came out many times before commenting on this very same court case. I wrote about this very court case a little over a month ago. That post is here. In that post, I made a very strong case which supports everything I say here. I also include a few good quotes from General Myers, who was forced to retire today because the judicial branch of the United States is fighting against his Military branch. He was put into a position where he could no longer put his reputation and responsibility on the line. When the Judicial branch is aiding the enemy, the best thing to do is to admit defeat. You just can't win. Now this will be on someone else's hands, and I don't blame General Myers one bit. For the record though, let's go back and look at his quotes.

"But in an affidavit filed with the court on July 21 and unsealed this past week, Myers insists the release 'would aid the recruitment effort and other activities of insurgent elements.'

He further states that should the pictures become public, they will 'endanger the lives and physical safety of the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines in the United States Armed Forces presently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.'"

And this is exactly what is going to happen. Just remember what happened when news made the rounds of the United States flushing a Quran down the toilet during interrogations. It caused fucking riots. I can only imagine what's in these pictures and videos, but I'll bet it's a lot worse than that. I think we saw fucking Nick JR quality humiliation pictures in the first place. Wait until these pictures make the news, if they aren't too graphic that is.

It's just so disappointing that this guy has to retire because Judge Alvin wants to see America be destroyed. That's the only conclusion I can come to. Anyone who would make this decision with such ignorance can want nothing else. And now a man was basically forced into retirement from his dream job. Absolutely fucking terrible.
