Bush's Mood Swings
His poll numbers are already way up, and I'm with the majority. I'm feeling better about Bush's performance, however I'm not comfortable or happy with everything he's doing. I'll discuss the main issues then get into some minor commentary from his big news conference yesterday.
First off, the Patriot Act. Bush is dead fucking wrong on this, and he is acting beyond irresponsibly on this issue, not to mention hypocritically.
The terrorists want to strike America again, and they hope to inflict even greater damage than they did on September the 11th. Congress has a responsibility to give our law enforcement and intelligence officials the tools they need to protect the American people. The senators who are filibustering the Patriot Act must stop their delaying tactics, and the Senate must vote to reauthorize the Patriot Act. In the war on terror, we cannot afford to be without this law for a single moment.
Ok, so we know the terrorists want to strike again. They want to inflict greater damage. He believes we need the "second half" of the Patriot Act and we can't afford to be without the law for a single moment... Then why the fuck won't he agree to a three month extension why the Senate figures this out? Because he's playing politics, which is precisely what he's accusing the Senate of doing.
First of all, the House and Senate have already renewed the first part of the Patriot Act. This second part, which basically pisses all over the Constitution, is what the Senate is giving him a hard time over. And I greatly applaud the Democrats and Republicans who are not bending over on this. The fact of the matter is this: I agree that this is a great tool to use during this time of War against an unorganized unconventional enemy. I fully agree, and I do think we need it.
But to make it permanent would be a disgrace to our founding fathers and a shame to the next generations. It would be a victory in and of itself for the terrorist scumbags if the President and Congress allow this law to become permanent. Renew it until war in Afghanistan and Iraq is officially declared over, or specifically limit every single aspect to suspected Muslim extremists. That's it. If that language and that limitation is in the bill, I wouldn't mind it so much. If they want to skirt the Constitution for National Security, then so be it. Liberty and freedom sure is nice, but I'm perfectly willing to give up a few minor rights to ensure a 9/11 never happens again. I have nothing to hide, so I'm not worrying.
Another big issue is of course, the spy program. Mr. Bush was absolutely irate on this issue, and understandably so. Someone leaked it to the New York Times, and he is pissed. Which he should be. Whoever did this should be tried for treason. It's just unbelievable that those cocksuckers would actually print this, knowing that it's a secret program in use to protect America. Have they no fucking shame?
Wether it's legal or not, I don't know. What I do know is that I have no problem with it, especially in a time of War. We're in a War you fucking idiots. Why do so many people forget this fact? We're in a war and what needs to be done needs to be done. First of all, the NSA is only monitoring known al Qaeda members making international calls or known al Qaeda members making calls to the U.S. So get the fucking sand out of your vagina.
No one's listening to you talk to your mistress while your wife and kids are Christmas shopping. No one will hear you guys have phone sex. No one's listening to you plotting to rob people of their money with your business partner. No one's listening to your conversation with your accountant while you talk about how to best skirt tax laws. If you're white, you've got nothing to worry about. If you're talking to Tyrone about your next drug shipment, I still wouldn't worry about Big Brother listening in. It's not happening.
So for all you fine Americans who are worried about having your shenanigans exposed, just relax. It won't happen. Feel free to be a degenerate all you like, stress free. It'll all be ok and you won't get caught.
THE PRESIDENT: You see, I hope by now you've discovered something about me, that when I say we're not going to have artificial timetables of withdrawal, and/or try to get me out on a limb on what the troop levels will look like -- the answer to your question on troop levels is, it's conditions-based. We have an objective in Iraq, and as we meet those objectives, our commanders on the ground will determine the size of the troop levels. Nice try. End of your try.
This is the type of firmness and fiery attitude I was talking about. I laughed so hard at this. He basically said "Nice attempt to get me to say something that I could be held to in a year or so, douche bag. It is now the end of that attempt and you failed." Hilarious.
I fully suggest reading the whole thing, it's pretty entertaining. He seems to have his head out of his ass. Gas prices are down (which is probably the main reason his poll numbers are up) and the peaceful Iraqi elections project a pretty good image. I'm not some big Bush ass kisser, as most people know. Republican or Democrat, I want to see high poll numbers on whoever the President elect is. People get this confused way too often; it's not really about liberal or conservatives when it comes to electing or judging a President. It's not really abut republican beliefs or democratic beliefs. It's more so about an ability to lead. Any CEO in America would make a decent President. It's a business and a baseball team at the same time. So, let's hope to make some money and win some games in 2006.

I know this is sort of random...But I just stumbled upon someone's blog.. I won't link to it but.."The Fifth Nail"? Last post was back in May...I was just wondering, what is that all about? Is it seriously a "bad man's" blog?! Thanks.
I tried commenting a while back (thanksgiving post, I think), and it didn't take for whatever reason. Sorry to hear about your run-ins with the fuzz.
I admit, the NSA isn't just randomly screening anybody, but I've got issues with a govt. that can "lose" tax returns so easily, while at the same time spending gobs of money to try to catch terrorist attacks moments too late.
