Best Way To Spend $95 Million

So, you're sitting there at Church and the collection plate comes to you. Oh, what do you do? When I was a churchgoer, and the little metal fucking bowl would come to me, I would just pass it right to the next person. No one ever did, or has explained to me why you put money in it. At that young age of 13-14, I just couldn't understand why you would give money to a Church.

Well, in time I came to realize. Because just like every single organization, wether it's "non profit" or not, it's a business. The Church needs your money for improvements, the Church needs your money to stay running, the Church needs your money to pay the bills, the Church needs your money to run campaign ads for all of the local Republican candidates. You get the point. What I've come to realize is that people give an amount of money that is equal to the amount of guilt they feel. And the word of God is very good at making believers feel guilty.

So the Church, especially the Catholic Church who are absolute masters at making people feel guilty and unworthy, take in billions of tax free dollars every year. And what exactly do they do with that money? Let's take a look at this story that comes straight out of Houston, Texas.

The Compaq Center is now a Church. The former home of the Houston Rockets is now the home of the Lakewood Church. This Church includes three "jumbo" screens, 16,000 seats, a new lighting system, new carpet for the entire building, a new 5 story section that can hold 5,000 children, new air conditioning unit, new heating unit, a massive stage, and waterfalls on both sides of that stage. And the price tag? $95 MILLION.

That's fucking right. Somehow, they were able to get a loan for $95 million dollars, probably paying at least 10% of that in advance. They somehow obtained the lease for the building from the city of Houston, and somehow they are able to pay their bills. How, I can't quite fathom. But they can! And this massive business entity pays no taxes. All of that 95 million will be tax free. They paid not one cent of taxes on a single purchase made for that Church.

The local news reporter asked the woman in charge the obvious question. "What do you say to some people who say you should have spent it on the poor?" She responded with "I feel like that if we don't make room for our base here -- if we can grow our base, then we can do more all over the world," Joel Osteen said. "My goal is to see this place continue to grow, to spread God's love, to spread hope and encouragement all over the world in as many platforms as we can. We're just open for new opportunities and looking for new ways to do it."

Nice fucking way to dodge the question, bitch. Why not use it for the poor? Why not give it to your own churchgoers who may be having financial difficulty? Maybe they could use an interest free loan to pay some bills. Maybe one of their children are sick. I mean, the old place held only 8,000 members. So I'm sure one of those 8,000 loyal churchgoers could have used a little bit of that money. Or maybe you could have done something for your community? Maybe they could have actually done something Christ would do with that massive amount of money. But no. Jumbo screens, waterfalls, and new carpet is much more important than actually doing a Chris-like deed.

What a fucking waste. This isn't a Church. This is a performance. This is nothing more than a show. It's a shit load of hypocrisy. It's a big entertaining show, that will collect absolutely massive amounts of money in the collection pool, because at this level, you will indeed need a pool to collect all of the money that people will be giving after service. Good going, assholes. And the 16,000 sheep who will goto this Las Vegas show in Houston will not even think twice. They will be excited for everything. They will see it as a gift to God. It burns me up, because if they weren't such greedy hypocrites, they could be helping a lot of people who need it. After all, is that not the Christian way?
